Notes: The Domain Omni PX1’s 360-degree radiating pattern means that it directs much more energy to its sides and rear than does a front-firing loudspeaker. In an anechoic chamber, this side- and rear-directed energy is mostly absorbed -- something that wouldn’t happen in a typical listening room. Therefore, while the measured anechoic sensitivity of any loudspeaker will be lower than its in-room sensitivity, the difference between these sensitivities with the PX1 is significantly greater than with a front-firing loudspeaker.
The PX1’s very low anechoic sensitivity meant that the test equipment would not allow for the extremely high voltages needed to perform the tests of total harmonic distortion plus noise and deviation from linearity at our standard level of 90dB. Instead, we had to take both readings at a level of 85dB. This was not a limitation of the loudspeaker, but of the test equipment used.
The PX1’s responses varied depending on the axis; therefore, in addition to measuring the PX1’s response on axis, we also measured it at 60 degrees off axis.
