Switzerland's Weiss, makers of the Minerva DAC, showed a tiny product sure to make a large splash: the Int202 digital converter ($1300). This is the product that many audiophiles who use Apple-based music servers have been waiting for. The Int202 will accept a digital signal up to 24-bit/192kHz through its FireWire input and . . .

. . . output that same resolution via S/PDIF or single- or dual-wire AES/EBU. Now all of those audiophiles that use a Mac-based music server can use it with a 24-bit/192kHz DAC if it has one of these input types. Oh, the Int202 also has a built-in digital volume control should you want to eliminate a preamp stage and power the amplifier directly from a DAC. This Int202 is a super-handy device.
