It's with great sadness that we report that legendary speaker designer Jim Thiel has passed away. Along with Kathy Gornik, Jim Thiel founded Thiel Audio, a privately held company located in Lexington, Kentucky.
Jim Thiel was one of the few remaining loudspeaker designers who created speakers that are time and phase correct. It's this aspect of speaker design that Thiel Audio was best known for. Thiel's newest speaker, the CS3.7, is a highly innovative speaker with radical new drivers designed by Jim Thiel himself. His rigorous attention to detail and his excellent design work paid off. We have also spoken to Jim Thiel on many occasions and found him to be extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of speaker design.
Jim Thiel was a highly respected pioneer in the high-end-audio audio industry whose presence and contributions will certainly be missed.
