Beginning sometime in November, Netflix customers will be able to download movies and television shows to their Sony PlayStation 3s using the PS3’s Internet connection. For $8.99 a month, Netflix customers can have unlimited movies and shows streamed to their PS3s.
For the moment, access will require an instant-streaming Blu-ray Disc that Netflix is making available to all customers. The Blu-ray activates the BD-Live circuitry in the player whereupon the user can access lists of available titles. Customers can still use the Netflix queuing system to organize their requests.
